We are an organization aimed to enhance the experience of women in the district.
Founded in 2003, The Madison of Washington, DC is a private membership 501(C)(7) professional, civic, and social organization composed of 100 women, ages 21-30 who live in the greater District of Columbia area. Our members represent a diverse group of women from over 35 different states, graduates from over 74 higher education institutions with a broad range of careers and backgrounds.

Our Namesake
The organization, named after Dolley Madison, pays tribute to her influential role as a beloved first lady in American history. Known for hosting social functions that brought together members from both political parties in Washington D.C., Dolley promoted bipartisan cooperation and the notion that political opponents could socialize, network, and collaborate. The Madison carries forward Dolley's legacy by celebrating our diverse members, embracing the strength that arises when women from different backgrounds unite.
$250,000
RAISED
...and counting!

Since 2003, The Madison has raised $250,000 for the community, partnering with local and national foundations. In 2025, we initiated a three-year primary partnership with SOME (So Others Might Eat). SOME provides material aid and comfort to our vulnerable neighbors in the District, helping them break the cycle of poverty and homelessness through programs and services. We also foster relationships through community service and volunteer opportunities to support local organizations.

how do we do it?
WE LOVE TO HOST EVENTS.
From exclusive member events to public facing galas - sprinkle in personal development workshops, community collaborations and everything in between. Each year, we go all out with our signature events like Madi Mardi Gras, Madi St.Paddy, Party on the Potomac, Frosty Fest, and other experiences that we can't wait to shout-out. Best part? Every single dime from these events goes straight to our philanthropy. So, let's enjoy a party with a purpose!
